Why bundles work better than subscriptions

Every investor-brained friend we have asked the same question: "why aren't you a subscription?" Fair question. Recurring revenue is prettier on a spreadsheet. Here's why we said no anyway.
Templates are assets, not services
A template pack is closer to a book than to software. You don't re-buy a book every month because you might read it again. Charging monthly for a static asset means either (a) you're renting something the customer should own, or (b) you're forced to invent churn-prevention features nobody asked for.
We'd rather sell the book and keep updating the edition.
The incentive math
ONE-TIME BUNDLE INCENTIVES
- We win by making packs worth owning forever
- Quarterly refreshes exist to keep trust, not to fight churn
- Support exists to make the pack work for you
- You can recommend us without signing a friend up for a bill
SUBSCRIPTION INCENTIVES
- Feature bloat to justify next month's charge
- Cancellation flows designed like escape rooms
- Roadmaps driven by retention dashboards
- Value spread thin so there's always a reason to stay
So why bundles specifically?
Because the data told us to. Most buyers who love one pack buy four more within a year. A bundle is just that behavior, priced honestly upfront:
The Creator Bundle isn't a marketing construct — it's the receipt for what our customers already do, minus the penalty for doing it one pack at a time.
One purchase. Yours forever. Refreshed quarterly. That's the whole model — and five years in, it still beats the spreadsheet-prettier one.
